Stéphane Thidet lives and works in Paris. A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts of Paris and the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts of Rouen, He is represented by the Aline Vidal gallery in Paris and the Laurence Bernard gallery in Geneva. Both dark and filled with wonder, Stéphane Thidet's world offers distorted visions of reality. His works suggest an elsewhere, an inaccessible but perceptible fiction that confronts the spectator with a new "state of things." Often connected to childhood or entertainment, they reveal a certain loss of innocence, an anxiety that, through the permanent tension that it presupposes, causes an agitation, a fertile interior turmoil. Things and situations elude the wold's ordinary use to the benefit of a hybrid reality which institutes an interplay of crossed readings.
